Latest News – Sax Music Fest Awarded £7393 from National Lottery Community Fund.

The annual July Sax Music Fest promises to be the best yet in its six-year history with tribute bands headlining both the Friday and Saturday evenings.

To be held at the Saxmundham Free School playing fields on Friday 26 July and Saturday 27 July, the free festival is a celebration of arts and music, from rock to folk, with the focus on local talent from Saxmundham and the surrounding area.

ELO Encounter’ tribute band will close the show on Friday evening, with the festival starting at 2.30pm. On Saturday the event starts at 11am and will finish with the ‘Bootleg Bee Gees’ closing the two-day festival at 11pm.

During the festival local acts will perform on stage, with stalls exhibiting and selling local arts and crafts. There will be a variety of food and drinks on sale and a licensed bar will operate throughout the opening hours of the event.

Festival organiser Terry Barrow said “This year the festival will be bigger and better than before, with two first class tribute acts, a wealth of local musical talent to entertain the crowd, and more stalls, rides and facilities.

“We are grateful to our many sponsors for making this year’s event possible. Because of last year’s storm on the Friday we suffered financially. However, due to the generosity of our sponsors, from both the public and private sectors, and from local fundraising events, we are on track to make Sax Music Fest 2019 an outstanding event”.

He added that Sax Music Fest had grown from being a summer festival and is now the leading brand, selected by Saxmundham Town Council, to help organise and arrange the growth of music and arts events year-round within the town. Examples include the forthcoming trio of SAXjazz concerts to be held at the Market Hall in May, June and September and the High Street Christmas Festival ‘SAXmas’.
